WHAT'S NEXT?

This time I'm going to talk about a postgraduate study I'd like to take in the future. There are so many fields in which a dentist can keep studying and developing new abilities.

I think this is not the time to make this decision but the truth is that I'm very interested in public health problems which are the most relevant for the population despite they don't know it. I think it's very important to teach people about their own healthcare through prevention so I'm probably going to specialize in Public Health.

The public health program is mainly related to research in human societies, so subjects as demography, bio statistics and epidemiology would be very important.

Actually I'd really like to study abroad but I have to be careful about this decision because if I'm going to study the chilean public health system it would be better to get this degree here in Chile and then go abroad to learn new things about public health which could help me to improve the chilean public health. 

For me it's very important to take courses in a classroom, that's the best way to get most of the information and then complement it studying at home. Anyway this program only have classes from thursday to saturday so I'm allowed to spend time in other activities (probably working to pay the postgraduate degree).

My future job

As I'm studying dentistry it's obvious that my dream job is being a dentist. However there are so many areas in which a dentist could work. Actually I haven't decided what kind of dentist I want to become. I have thought about becoming an orthodontist or maybe a public health researcher, but it's too soon to decide as I still have 5 years (or more) for that.

Despite I haven't decided in which area I want to work, I still have some plans for my future job. Once I get my specialization I really want to spend some time working in a foreign country (preferably an english speaking country) and learning about a different public health system. Start living abroad is quite expensive, so I need to work a few years in Chile and earn a pretty good salary ($$$). Anyway I don't care how much I'm going to earn as long as it allows me to reach this objective.

Actually, I don't want to live abroad forever, because my family and friends are here so once I come back to Chile I hope to be a denstistry teacher (maybe in this faculty) to teach about what I have learned abroad and make some research.

Anyway, these are only plans. A lot of things could happen in the close future so I'm always open to new ideas and plans that could make me feel whole.

My Hobby

Until this year I didn't have any hobby (I don't consider watching series an actual hobby) but it's mandatory to take a sport class in this faculty. When I went to the gym to take a sport class I hoped to take a swimming class (because I've already practiced swimming) but the options were only three: Tennis, Athletics and Taekwondo. I didn't liked tennis or athletics because I had to go outside the faculty to practice them, so I decided to take the taekwondo class without any expectations.

Taekwondo is a korean martial art characterized by its emphasis on head-height kicks, jumping and spinning kicks, and fast kicking techniques. The name Tae Kwon Do means in korean "Tae", to stomp, "Kwon", fist and "Do", way or discipline. There are many schools of Taekwondo. I practice World Taekwondo Federation's way, which is recognized as an Olympic sport.

The truth is that I wasn't very excited about practicing taekwondo but with the passage of time I started to like it a lot. Then I started to practice more days a week and by the end of the last semester I went to my first competition. Sadly I didn't win any fights but this experience encouraged me to practice more and more.

The Best Concert Ever

In March of this year I went to Lollapalooza Chile which is a 2 day festival in O'Higgins Park. In this festival I could see a lot of artists (I don't remember how many). Nevertheless, I enjoyed seeing one of my favourite rap singers: Eminem. 

Marshall Mathers, Eminem or "Slim Shady" is one of the most famous rappers in the USA. He has won 15 Grammy prizes and has colaborated with other great artists as Elton John, Snoop Dogg and Dr. Dre.

During the event, the atmosphere was amazing. Everybody was full of energy during the shows and when they ended, everybody went as fast as they could from one stage to another to see the next group or singer. Because of this, at the end of the day the only thing you want is to lay in your bed and sleep as much as you can.

 It feels awesome to be in a festival like this. I enjoyed a lot listening and dancing to different artists from different genres, which is why I liked Lollapalooza Chile so much. You can see rappers, electronic music shows, folk rock groups, etc. And the best part is that you can know new artists that you've never heard before. For example, in my case I could see Mumford and Sons without knowing them before and now they are one of my favorite bands.

A country I'd like to visit: Greece

Greece is located at the Balkan Peninsula and borders to Albania, Macedonia, Bulgaria and Turkey. This country is one of the cradles of the occidental culture but lately it has been into several economic problems because of debts to other european countries. Because of this crisis some countries want to kick Greece out of the Europe Union.

Despite of the crisis, I'd like to visit this country mainly because of it's historical value and it's amazing architectural pieces. I have always been into greek culture and mythology, so visiting all those old temples and museums with invaluable pieces would be great. Also, I'd love to take a cruise and visit some greek islands in the mediterranean sea, as Mykonos, which are known for having beautiful landscapes.

This trip would be only to visit some tourist places, because greek language is too complicated and I don't think it's worth to learn it. Also, I don't believe it would be wise to live in a country with such economic problems.
